Start out at twilight
Legs are creaky, out of tune.
Run scales in the wind.
Shake out the day’s blues–
Rhythm still missing the beat.
Sun takes the solo.
Stride on down the road
Sky’s jazzy riffs light my way
Moon rises on stage.
Head over the bridge–
Running chops returning now.
Eight to the bar pace.
Darkening skies thrill.
Stars begin their dance; bridge sways.
I follow their lead.
My feet hold the beat.
Our impromptu jam session
Cooks along for miles.
This cutting contest
Turns to me to bring it home.
I sprint the coda.
A song/poem I’ll have to return to. Beautiful images, too.
